"This is the Way the World Ends" is the twelfth and final episode of the sixth season of the Showtime television series Dexter. It premiered on Showtime on December 18, 2011. In this episode, Dexter finally confronts the Doomsday Killer - Travis Marshall.

Travis, thinking the world is ending, intends to make a sacrifice to God. He breaks into Dexter's house to find evidence of him having a son, and proceeds to drive to the pageant, where he kidnaps Harrison and brings him to the top of a shining building. Dexter chases him there, and they proceed to fight. Dexter injects him with the M99 animal tranquilizer, and keeps him in his car. Dexter brings his son home and then drives to the church, where he stabs Travis, only to have Debra walk in and witness the murder.
The season six finale garnered 2.23 million viewers at 9 p.m. and 2.71 million viewers for the night, the series best telecast of the year and highest-rated night.
Amongst critics, the episode received mixed to negative reviews.
